Biko is a famous Filipino sweet and sticky rice dessert usually served on every Filipino special occasions. It’s also an authentic Filipino delicacy that is loved by Filipinos that is also served during merienda or snacks-time. This delicacy can be served in a "Suman" form or wrapped in a banana leaves for individual servings. It is also been said that when you serve this rice, coconut milk and sugar made delicacy on New Year's Eve, the family, despite the challenges, will stick together, as sticky as the Biko, all throughout the next year. And since a New Year is coming, it's just the right time to learn and cook this mouth-savoring delicacy. Olango Island Ecotourism Park is situated at Sitio Asinan, Brgy. Sabang in Olango Island. This eco park is commonly known for its Mangrove trees and Coconut trees surrounding the beach that sometimes would resembles it as a lake when its hightide. It is also known for its camping site filled by its breathe-taking scenery of the island, where you can do different recreational activities along with your family and friends. There are also cottages at the beach you can rent.
Before you can even go there you have to take a boat ride from the Angasil Port (nearby Mactan Newtown Beach) for about 15 minutes. In arriving, you will get to Olango Island Port where you could find tricycle to ride to the said eco park. But if you want some extra adventure, I would really recommend you to rent a bike to appreciate more the island. You can ask the tricycle driver to get you to the Olango MyBike at Sitio Tapon, Brgy Sta. Rosa, wherein you can rent bikes to get you to the Olango Island Ecotourism Park for about 30 minutes biking. Yes, that's a great workout indeed! 😉
